This course expands students’ experience with literature, language, and critical analysis. Learners will study a variety of texts from different periods and genres, including novels, poetry, drama, and multimedia works, to deepen their understanding of how form, style, and content shape meaning. Students will strengthen their analytical, communication, and creative writing skills by producing formal essays, editorials, and imaginative compositions. Emphasis will be placed on developing a sophisticated command of academic language, exploring literary techniques such as rhyme and meter, and applying critical thinking to interpret complex ideas. By the end of the course, students will be prepared for Grade 12 University English (ENG4U) and for the demands of postsecondary academic writing and communication.
