Inukshuk Academy Grade 10 students build on foundational learning while beginning to shape their future academic pathways. Grade 10 courses are designed to strengthen core skills, deepen subject understanding, and prepare students for the transition into senior-level studies. The Academy offers Ontario Ministry-approved academic (D), applied (P), and open (O) courses that support a range of post-secondary pathways.

Students receive guidance in selecting courses that align with their strengths, interests, and long-term goals while continuing progress toward the 30 credits required for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Through flexible online and in-person learning options, combined with personalized academic support, Grade 10 students are equipped to move confidently into Grades 11 and 12.

ENG2D – English, Grade 10

The Grade 10 English course develops students’ reading, writing, oral communication, and media literacy skills through the study of a wide range of literary and informational texts from diverse cultures and historical periods. Students analyze novels, short stories, poetry, drama, and media texts to deepen their understanding of language, theme, and perspective.

Throughout the course, students strengthen critical thinking and communication skills by producing clear, well-organized written work for various purposes and audiences. Emphasis is placed on literary analysis, argumentative and narrative writing, effective oral presentations, and the interpretation and creation of media texts.

This course prepares students for senior-level English studies by fostering independent learning, analytical thinking, and confident communication, while supporting continued success across all subject areas.

SNC2D – Science, Grade 10

The Grade 10 Science course builds on the foundational knowledge developed in Grade 9 and expands students’ understanding of key scientific concepts in biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth and space science. The course emphasizes scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and the application of science to real-world and global issues.

Students explore topics such as genetics and human systems, chemical reactions and the periodic table, optics and the properties of light, and climate change and environmental systems. Through laboratory investigations, experiments, simulations, and research activities, students develop skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and scientific communication.

This course prepares students for senior science courses by strengthening analytical skills, encouraging curiosity, and promoting an understanding of how science and technology influence society and the environment.

MPM2D – Principles of Mathematics, Grade 10

The Grade 10 Principles of Mathematics course extends students’ understanding of mathematical concepts developed in Grade 9, with an emphasis on algebraic reasoning, problem-solving, and mathematical communication. The course prepares students for further studies in senior mathematics and related disciplines.

Students explore linear and quadratic relations, systems of equations, factoring, analytic geometry, and trigonometry. Through investigation, modeling, and real-life applications, students learn to represent mathematical relationships using graphs, tables, and equations, and to justify their reasoning clearly.

This course develops logical thinking, precision, and perseverance while building the skills required for success in Grade 11 mathematics courses and a variety of post-secondary pathways.

Yes! Our online learning platform allows both local and international students to complete their OSSD from anywhere in the world with full teacher support.

Each course typically takes 4 to 5 months, but fast-track options are available for students who wish to complete their credits sooner.

Yes. All instructors at Inukshuk Academy are Ontario-Certified Teachers (OCT) with experience in both in-person and virtual education.

Students can communicate with teachers through live sessions, email, or virtual office hours. Regular feedback and progress reports keep learning on track.
Students must complete 30 credits, 40 community service hours, and the Ontario Literacy requirement. Our academic advisors help you meet all of these with ease.
