The Grade 10 Principles of Mathematics course extends students’ understanding of mathematical concepts developed in Grade 9, with an emphasis on algebraic reasoning, problem-solving, and mathematical communication. The course prepares students for further studies in senior mathematics and related disciplines.
Students explore linear and quadratic relations, systems of equations, factoring, analytic geometry, and trigonometry. Through investigation, modeling, and real-life applications, students learn to represent mathematical relationships using graphs, tables, and equations, and to justify their reasoning clearly.
This course develops logical thinking, precision, and perseverance while building the skills required for success in Grade 11 mathematics courses and a variety of post-secondary pathways.
